Good day All,
Common practice in Nigeria today is changing how old building looks like to meet with new aesthetics view and also minimize space to take advantage of short housing issues due to our population and make more profit.

However property owner don’t really bother with how this procedure should be carried out and start breaking walls and introducing new partition wall the effect of this may ve some great impact on the built structure.
Standard ways to carryout this
Few listed below base on scope

Provide the As-built Architectural drawing and the proposed architectural Drawing, if the above documents is not available get an architect to redraw the already built structure and the propose.

The construction structural drawing should be submitted to the structural engineer if its not available you will need to carry out what’s is known as structural Assessment to determine stress, reinforcements, cover etc

Lack of building plan and specifications is the beginning of problems in any project.

Incomplete or ambiguous plans and specifications, either due to incompetence on the part of the architect or because not enough time and money was spent on them or because the design was copied from the internet can lead to problems.
Without a proper plan, the builders quote will be inaccurate.
Without a building plan, builders and designers will rely on variations to correct conflicts and inaccuracies in the plans and specifications.
This cost time and money which is either borne by you or the builder.l - even much more - structural defect.
