What’s a Biodigester?
A Biodigester septic tank which is usually small in size, digests or decomposes toilet and animal/poultry waste biologically.
The word “Bio” comes into the picture as a result of the naturally sourced materials used during the construction and Installation process.
The biodigester, as it’s generally being called, uses anaerobic sewage system that never gets exhausted as it completely decomposes toilet waste within 48 hours, keeping the septic box always dry and empty.
Whenever the water closet is flushed, the biodigester processes and filters the toilet waste through grades of porous granites, biological filters, treated fibres infused with environmentally-friendly bacteria for degrading human waste.
ADVANTAGES
There are several advantages over the traditional septic tank which includes;
Never requiring to evacuate sewage as it will never get full.
Very portable in size and can be constructed anywhere in your premises without being noticed. At first sight, one will think it’s a chamber.
No foul smell and doesn’t contaminate ground water.
No cockroach infestation.
It can last for as long as the house stands.
It requires little or no maintenance except it’s blocked with sanitary pads, baby diapers, nylon and other non-degradable items. Simple solution is to open and remove whatever isn’t supposed to go into the biodigester.
PLEASE NOTE
Please note that the biodigester is not designed to process kitchen and bathroom waste water except toilet wastes.
(For the kitchen and bathroom waste water, a separate soakaway must be provided for that)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can it work in a waterlog or swampy terrain? Yes, but there are conditions that need to be met before installing a biodigester in such places.
I don’t want to continue with my existing septic tank, can a biodigester replace it? Yes, it can work perfectly fine.
The biodigester looks small, are you sure it can process toilet waste for a 3 bedroom flat without getting exhausted?
Yes, the innovative technology running it decomposes toilet waste within 48 hours. The flush water drains into a soakhole, leaving the box dry.
What if it gets blocked?
The simple solution is to call us to open it and remove whatever has caused the blockage.
If the house occupants are away for some time, won’t the microorganisms come out?
No, there’s no possibility of microorganisms surviving outside the biodigester.
How long does it take to install a biodigester?
It takes between 2-3 days depending on the number of biodigesters.
I heard toilet waste can generate energy, how true is this?
Yes, very true. It can generate energy for cooking gas or to power your generator. The construction/setup and cost for this model is totally different.
How much does it cost to setup a biodigester?
The first thing to do is to visit your property for an assessment and recommend the appropriate size for the number of toilets/users before price is quoted.
