Hi Everyone! We’re building again and this construction journal serves as a record of the daily activity associated with the new project we’re doing. The journal will be accessible to all interested parties (suppliers, subcontractors, decorators, architects, builders, prospective home owners and many others) but particularly useful to the owner of this beautiful project. The thread will serve as a record describing who was on site, what was done, problems that arose and progress made daily. Please feel free to post comments or questions to this thread. XL6 Trillion | Atrium House: Project Description XL6 Trillion | Atrium House is NextHome’s newest project and it is a 4 luxurious bedrooms contemporary build featuring terraces, atrium, double volume master bed + studio, gym, study/office etc. Completion Date: 8 May 2021 Ground Breaking: 15 March 2021 Building Specification The concept was designed by Bosun Davies of NextHome Builders. It is a four bedroom, five bathroom contemporary house with two large living areas. The entry level; from the front door through the pre-sit area is a large living room and a dining area of 25sqm. The upper first floor level features the master bedroom suite with a large bedroom with a double walk-in robe and a spectacular en-suite bathroom. The master suite leads to an wraparound terrace. The upper floor also features a second third living area opening through to a covered terrace, a gym and the kids bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

Day 1: Picking Up The Pieces

Tools of Trade

Every builder/project managers/engineers and especially concrete contractors must have a complete set of tools to get the job done. The right tools can make the difference between a successful concrete pour and a potential disaster. Most of the essential tools are basic and do not require a significant investment.

Owning these tools at NextHome Builds, eliminates the cost of rental fees and the lost time picking up and returning the equipment.

7 DAYS UNTIL CONSTRUCTION BEGINS!

The NextHome team has been working the past weeks on preparing for this project. Right now, there are a lot of preliminary activities ongoing while we await the ground breaking day: obtaining permits, purchasing materials, familiarization tour, securing accommodation for the full-time crew, site store construction and build site preparation.

With the beginning of construction only 1 week away, the pre-works has officially begun!

We’ll be updating this thread regularly with new photos as the project takes shape.

Keemzy1 I’m considering climate doors in the lower atrium windows that can be opened to circulate air during hot weather.

We will also seal the atrium roof with lead flashing

We are fully ready!

Today, NextHome’s tools of trade and equipment were delivered to site. Our construction crew also made their way to the site.

It’s safe to say we’re moving faster than schedule.

Here are the set targets for tomorrow:

preparation of formwork for the ground beam
preparation of their reinforcements
setting out the building

Interlocking Brick For XL6 Trillion | Atrium House

I love good stuffs so also my client. He has repeatedly asked me how we can integrate this brick into our project and I have been very silent about it.

I didnt give a straight answer to his question because I’m yet to determine where and how to use the bricks on the project.

Anyway, I just did. Pls check it below out and kindly let me know by replying this post if it’s cool or not.

I’ve decided to use this interlocking bricks on my feature walls in the atrium and a little part of the facade.
