Online or offline suppliers and contractors?

Over the years, I have seen friends and relatives projects encounter numerous setback occasioned by overbilling, abscornment after payment has been made partly or completely, poor workmanship , poor quality material. Most of these were by suppliers and contractors commissioned offline. When I deal with suppliers online, most people around me feels I am taking unnecessary risk. I have not been wrong yet except for my previous bad experience with Jumia.

I may be wrong hence my seeking your opinion as well.

For me, I go with online for the following reasons:

it’s cheaper. Due to my location, I get things online at a cheaper price.
seller has name to protect due to larger audience and because any infraction stays for long(as dem dey talk am internet no dey forget).
due to number 2 above, quality is also better.

Downside is that you have to wait for your items to arrive and some fraudulent supplier may send low quality item with the hope that you won’t return it due to shipping cost. If you don’t do proper due diligence you may end up being defrauded. With what kobocity is doing, I think one may comfortably transact without much fear.

I’ll chose online over and over. The world has changed so we need to respond with a shift in our culture. A shift in the way we communicate and transact with each other must evolve.
